There are some weddings that stay with you long after you’ve delivered the gallery. Tilly and Dom’s wedding was one of them. If I’m completely honest… if I ever got married again, I’d probably just copy their entire day.

A beautiful historic church, an English country estate in full bloom, sunshine, Pimms on the lawn, incredible live music, and a dance floor that was still absolutely packed at midnight. It was one of those days when everything simply felt right.

A ceremony at St John the Baptist, Penshurst

The day began at the beautiful St John the Baptist Church in Penshurst, and I genuinely think it’s one of the most stunning churches I’ve photographed.

The soaring windows filled the space with the softest, most cinematic light, creating an atmosphere that felt peaceful and timeless. Every glance, every smile, every quiet moment seemed to glow.

And then there was the vicar. Without a doubt, one of the funniest and warmest celebrants I’ve ever worked with. He had everyone laughing within minutes, instantly putting both the couple and their guests at ease. It was the perfect reminder that ceremonies don’t have to feel formal to be deeply meaningful.

“We hate having our photos taken…”

During our consultation, Tilly admitted something I hear surprisingly often – both she and Dom absolutely hated having their photos taken.

I hear this more often than you might think. The funny thing is, if you looked through their gallery now, you’d never believe it.

Rather than spending hours posing, we simply wandered, chatted, laughed, and let the day unfold naturally. My approach has always been about helping couples feel comfortable enough to forget about the camera altogether. The result wasn’t stiff poses or forced smiles. It was genuine connection.

Falconhurst Estate in spring

After the ceremony, everyone made their way to Falconhurst Estate, and honestly… it couldn’t have looked more beautiful.

The walled garden was bursting into bloom, with soft spring colours everywhere you looked. If you’re planning a May or June wedding, it’s one of those locations that almost feels like it was designed for romantic portraits.

The architecture is equally stunning, offering elegant backdrops without ever feeling overpowering. Whether you’re walking through the gardens, enjoying drinks outside with your guests, or sneaking away for ten quiet minutes together, there are beautiful corners everywhere.

It’s one of those venues that gives you variety without needing to travel anywhere else during the day.

A celebration that nobody wanted to end

As the sun began to set, the atmosphere shifted from relaxed garden party to full-on celebration. The live band played classic rock and roll favourites, the dance floor filled almost immediately, and somehow it never emptied.

When I finally packed my cameras away close to midnight, guests were still singing, dancing and celebrating just as enthusiastically as they had hours earlier.

Those are always my favourite weddings to photograph.
The ones where the photos stop feeling like photos and start feeling like memories.
I left Falconhurst Estate that night with a full memory card, tired feet, and a very full heart. What a privilege it was to tell their story.
